  • World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests

Friday Jun 27, 2025 All day

The World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests:

Established by Saint John Paul II in 2002 and takes place every year on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

On this day, the Church encourages priests to prayerfully reflect upon the gift of their vocation.

The faithful are invited to mark this celebration by praying for all priests that they may live lives of holiness and fidelity to Christ and his Church.

May and June are traditionally when ordinations to the priesthood are celebrated.

This feast day gives us an opportune time to pray for the faithfulness of our parish priests and an increase in vocations to the priesthood
    within the Diocese of Owensboro.

“May the Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the intercession of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, imbue all priests with his grace, strengthen their hearts, and renew them in their vocation to image Christ, Head and Shepherd, Servant and Spouse.
    Amen.” - USCCB 2022
